... I was in the very early days of my coaching career, a newly single mom and, even though there was very little money coming in, I still wanted the fun: the road trips, the birthdays, the just-because-it's-Tuesday ice cream cones. Not to mention paying the water bill.
So, unless I was going to go a little crazy, I had to get really smart about how to make this happen.
And that is when, one night, I created a very special spreadsheet. I was no Excel wizard (I am still not) but I knew what I wanted it to do for me.
I wanted it to:
1. tell me what was going on with my money today
2. help me create a road map that would take me to where I wanted to go from where I was
3. guide me in following that road map.
And I did.
I created a "program" that partnered with me in talking about my family's money. Where it was coming from, where it was going. What things would look like three months from now. A year. What happened if I tweaked this? What did I need to do to make sure I could afford a road trip to Mexico in July? What happened if I took a month off? What if I got a part time job? Changed my cell phone plan?
I created something that allowed me to play with possibilities.
It worked great.
And a few years later, when I noticed how unoriginal my situation was (mainly wanting to stretch the money/fun factor), I began to share my "system" with my clients. And they too, loved it.
So I decided to "grow it up" a bit. I made it more polished, more customizable - and still fun to use.
I called it "The Money Playground."
And so today, as we all face the blank canvas of a year's worth of possibilities, dreams AND numbers, I am offering you my magical tool for creation, focus and most importantly for peace of mind.
"The Money Playground" is easy. It is simple, it takes very little room and it is very good at what it does.
