I had the tremendous honor to communicate with Nipun Mehta, founder of KarmaTube and ServiceSpace, a couple of years ago, after Service Space interviewed me. Both organizations are awe inspiring. The amount of good their staff of volunteers puts out into the world (virtual and "real) every day is humbling and deeply inspiring.
Nipun's babies also include Karma Kitchen, DailyGood, KindSpring, KarmaTube, and more. Just knowing about ONE of these projects can fill your heart as well as transform your life, if you choose to get a little closer. ALL volunteer- run. Seriously. Super dedicated and effective volunteers, all over the world. Nipun built that. And let me tell you, they walk their talk: a few summers ago, a couple of girlfriends and I headed down to Portland for the weekend to do a Sprinkling, and were invited to stay at one of their magic-makers' home. Let me just repeat: they walk their talk. So, yes, I am a big fan of Nipun. Today, I want to share him with you, through his TEDx talk. Here, Nipun talks about the three Stages of Generosity: Give, Receive, and Dance! I think you'll like it. This morning, a friend sent me a text, along with this story. She said: "I am not much of a crier, but this one got me." Well, minutes later, it got me - and I think it will get you, too. In a delicious way. In super soft places where we love to be gotten. Enjoy, and here's to love, however it looks for you, today. XOXO Inspiration alert!
This, in my inbox: "I meant to tell you, there's a security guard at the garden where I volunteer on Saturdays. He such an amazing man. He's probably 75, he has 4 successful kids, and he is a caregiver for his ex wife. He always has a smile on his face. Last year, my friend turned me on to this microwave egg cooker. I was a breakfast sandwich making fool until I gave up bread. I would make extras for the security guards and yard workers I would consistently see on Saturdays. George gave me a thank you card the week following the first time I brought him one. He is so thoughtful and sweet! Anyways, I gave him a happiness sprinkling card several weeks ago that said "You are awesome!" He lit up like a Christmas tree with joy. He showed me last week that he laminated it, and carries it with him every day now. 😊" Bottom line: it takes very little to light people / us up. Let's not be shy. |
