I am forever surprised - and hugely inspired - by how little money, time, resources and fancy things it takes to bring some levity and movement into (many) people's day. Below is another example of exactly this: two chairs, a card table, a stack of post its, and a desire to be present and extend an invitation. That's it. Whatever the reason, political or not, remembering how LITTLE it takes to create some upward spiraling vibrations is a great nudge, for all of us. Whether we are changing the world, or simply hosting a birthday party. I believe you will enjoy this article.
I had the tremendous honor to communicate with Nipun Mehta, founder of KarmaTube and ServiceSpace, a couple of years ago, after Service Space interviewed me. Both organizations are awe inspiring. The amount of good their staff of volunteers puts out into the world (virtual and "real) every day is humbling and deeply inspiring.
Nipun's babies also include Karma Kitchen, DailyGood, KindSpring, KarmaTube, and more. Just knowing about ONE of these projects can fill your heart as well as transform your life, if you choose to get a little closer. ALL volunteer- run. Seriously. Super dedicated and effective volunteers, all over the world. Nipun built that. And let me tell you, they walk their talk: a few summers ago, a couple of girlfriends and I headed down to Portland for the weekend to do a Sprinkling, and were invited to stay at one of their magic-makers' home. Let me just repeat: they walk their talk. So, yes, I am a big fan of Nipun. Today, I want to share him with you, through his TEDx talk. Here, Nipun talks about the three Stages of Generosity: Give, Receive, and Dance! I think you'll like it. My friend Marcia (creatress of the way awesome Wileyware drinking glasses) wanted me to meet her friend Matt Cone, as she thought that he and I may have some business crossover ideas to talk about. Matt being the person responsible for the ticket I got in the mail, a couple of weeks ago, I had a feeling she was right. So lunch was had, and it was fun to hear what Matt was up to. One of the things he is pretty excited about is what he calls his "Abundance Model," which he explains here, in a short TEDx talk. I think you may enjoy it too. Wishing you a lovely, inspiring and abundant day! |
