What time can I check into our villa? Our Villa is available for check in at 5:00 pm and it ends at 11 am on the 16th.
What is the best way to get to the villa? 1) Go from Pisa aiport (PSA) to Pisa Centrale (This is the train station, and it is pronounced CHEN-TRAH-LEH) by shuttle bus or taxi. This will take about eight minutes.
2) From Pisa Centrale to La Spezia Trenitalia high speed trains (40 minutes) about 11€ Regionale trains (1 hour and 15 minutes) about 9€ (on weekends and holidays are generally less frequent and travel times are longer)
3) From La Spezia, take a cab straight to the house (which will be ready for your arrival at 5pm). The address is Via Guiseppe Garibaldi, 79. The cab will fare will be about €30.
What should I bring for the Retreat? Please bring enough clothing for the length of our Retreat, without needing a washing machine. Bring a light sweater or some sort of layer for the cooler evenings and possible rainy weather. If you plan on going swimming, bring a suit. Also, good walking shoes as we will be doing a lot of adventuring!
Be sure to have an extra pair of prescription glasses; order ahead of time any medication you will need; call your credit/debit card companies and let them know you will be using your cards out of your hometown, and of course make sure your passport is current. Please refrain from using scented products as some guests have adverse reactions to them.
Is there wi-fi at our villa? There will be wifi there. Please remember to bring your power outlet converter.
What is the time difference? Portovenere is nine hours ahead of us.
How much spending money should I bring? All meals at home will be covered by us. You will be lovingly served a breakfast of pastries, hard boiled eggs, fruit, yogurt, fruit juice and coffee. On class days, we will have a lovely Italian lunch at home. We will have 3 or 4 lunches and 7 dinners on our own. You can count on a average of 20€ per meal - plus drinks.
Also budget for any train / bus tickets on our play days, as well as tours that you may want to take.
And of course figure in your play money and treasures to bring home, as well as a healthy gelato budget!
