I am told that my art heals, Art to Heart.
I know it heals me.

The first week of March 2020, during a visit to Mexico, I awoke from a very vivid dream about red hearts. These were highly contagious hearts and anyone who caught one immediately felt a deep sense of peace and love. That morning in the village, we had not yet heard much about the virus. Having finally decided that it was time for me to move to Mexico, I rented a casita and flew to the US, with a firm plan to get my dog and come right back. But when I landed, I saw that the world had turned upside down and it took me 9 months to be able to return. I spent most of that quarantine spring and summer painting hearts. Heart after heart as though my sanity depended on it - which I think it did. I created a lot of hearts! I gave away many of them, shipping them to whomever told me they were having a hard time. I was told that they helped, so I made more. In November, I sold what was left and with the money, bought tulips for people who would be alone for Thanksgiving. On January 1, 2021 my pup Lila and I boarded a plane and we have been living by the ocean in a small Mexican village ever since. Where I keep making more and more hearts. #art2heart If you are inspired to create "A Wall of Hearts" for your home or office - a vision I have for children's hospitals - please contact me.
"Colors are like vitamins for my soul. They uplift me, they ground me, they energize me, they soothe me. They feed me. Words matter tons to me and whenever I can, I combine the powers of colors and words together so that the two swirl around our brain and envelop us with their Essence." - Laura
This is where the hearts start. In this magical wooden workshop, at the bottom of a dirt road, with many dogs running around, wrestling.
We pick each piece of wood (either pine or parota) individually and then Ibis and his team cut it for me and sand it until it is smooth. Sometimes I get them home in the pouring rain but the hearts always end up happy! As a thank you to the guys in the wood shop, I made this little painting - and it sparked a whole new project, which I am working on right now. Inspiration is catchy.
May you find just the perfect piece to accompany your beautiful life or the life of someone you love.

I love the Hearts. They are becoming my go-to gifts. Why do I love your Hearts so much?
I think because for me, they just capture a feeling, a love. It's so hard to describe. It's a combination of the light, the Heart itself, the aesthetic of the Heart, the unusualness of it, I just love it and I feel that it is the perfect gift from the heart. I think also, as I look at them, this bright Heart coming out of darkness, the black behind it really touches me."
