Can I use my debit/credit cards in La Manzanilla?
Pesos are the only currency used in La Manzailla. You can buy pesos at home or at the airports along the way.
Be sure to let your debit/credit card company know you will be traveling to Mexico so that your card may work while you are traveling.
Is there wi-fi in La Manzanilla?
While the Vvlla has wi-fi, we request that in order to benefit fully from our time together, participants limit their use to an hour after dinner, and set their phone to airplane mode during class. If this will be a challenge for you, please talk with us ahead of time. We feel strongly that being fully present with your experience will greatly enhance its benefits.
What is the time difference?
La Manzanilla is two hours ahead of Seattle time.
How much money should I bring?
$10.00 U.S. equals 190 Mexican pesos. Please bring enough pesos for the entire week. If you should run out you can take a 20-minute bus ride to Melaque and use the ATM machine, although there will be limited time for you to do so. You can purchase your pesos at home, or at the airports along the way. I usually purchase mine at the Manzanillo airport.
Here is a suggested budget:
Taxi ride to and from airport which you may be able to share. The taxi holds three plus driver. - $120
Meals out - $150
Optional whale watching tour - $50
Optional mangrove watching tour - $30
Plus extra for the Friday market and anything you may want to bring home,
Any emergency money you may feel comfortable taking with you.
Are there Tours we can take?
Yes we offer two tours:
Whale watching:
You will leave from the village at 8 a.m. on one of our non- class days, and be gone until around noon. It is an open skiff and is a comfortable ride. They give us life jackets and binoculars. They try their best to find the humpback whales and other water life. Either way it is a delightful morning on the water.
Mangrove tour:
You will leave at 5 p.m. on one of our non- class days, and the tour goes until sunset. We are paddled through the Mangrove by excellent tour guides and we will definitely spot lots of wild life! They provide us with binoculars and an identification booklet.
Please let me know a couple weeks before our Retreat, if you would like to go on either of these tours so I can reserve us boats.
What information should I have as I enter Mexico at the Manzanillo Airport?
They will ask you where you are staying. Our villa is Casa Baja de las Estrellas - Rufino Tamayo # 35 . You will also need this information for your taxi driver, so keep it with your passport.
Address to Casa Bajo de las Estreallas:
Rufino Tamayo # 35
We will have a Happiness T-shirt hanging there so you will know you have arrived.
One last thing - If you haven’t sent it in already please return your signed Waiver as well as a copy of your passport.
Thanks!
