I fell in love with painting series. And then having a party.
When I paint a series of people, a group of humans (and sometimes non-humans) from the same village, organization or family, two powerful things happen:
1) people delight in seeing their portraits, their Essence Portraits. Here they are, fully recognizable - and therefore celebratable - away from their facial features. All Essence. They smile, they light up and sometimes they tear up.
2) when we join the Essence Portraits for one evening of Gathering, Honoring and Celebrating, it is a deeply beautiful event. Every person feels seen individually and also recognizes themselves as an intrinsic part of the community. The event is deeply joyful, sacred and unforgettable.
